Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Russia is seeking to deploy ballistic missile launchers on the territory of Belarus. According to him, this would pose a threat primarily to the western regions of Ukraine.
He said this while talking to journalists.
Zelensky spoke about Russia’s intentions during a conversation with journalists. He noted that relay stations are already located on the territory of Belarus, which Russian troops use to attack Ukraine with drones.
At the same time, according to the president, this is not enough for Russia, and it seeks to enlist the support of the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, to deploy other types of weapons, including ballistic missiles, on Belarusian territory.
“But this is not enough for them. They need Lukashenko’s support to ensure that other types of weapons, including ballistics, are located on the territory of Belarus. And, of course, the location of ballistics on the territory of Belarus will be a threat, primarily to the western part of our state,” Zelensky said.
The President emphasized that Russia has plans to deploy ballistic missile launchers in Belarus.
Recall that the CSTO military exercises “Indestructible Brotherhood-2026” and “Barrier-2026” have started in Belarus , in which Russia and several other allied states are participating. More than 1,500 servicemen and more than 300 pieces of equipment were involved in the maneuvers.
