After talks between the US and Russia in the Kremlin, Moscow confirmed its intention not to abandon the previously announced conditions for ending the war in Ukraine. These are agreements that Russia links to the so-called “Anchorage formula” rejected by Ukraine.
This is reported by Reuters .
After the talks, Russian representatives made it clear that Moscow’s position remains unchanged and is based on the agreements that, according to the Kremlin, US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin reached during the summit in Alaska.
The Kremlin calls these agreements the “Anchorage formula,” but Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov has refused to publicly disclose their content.
Journalists have found out the details of this formula with reference to a source close to the Kremlin. According to this information, Russia’s key demand is the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the territories of the Donetsk region, which are currently under Ukrainian control.
In response, Russia is allegedly ready to freeze the current front line in southern and eastern Ukraine, leaving it in its current form.
By the way, Washington is considering an offer to Ukraine to give up Donbas in exchange for a plan to finance the country’s reconstruction worth $800 billion.
As previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Donbas issue will be central during the trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia , which will be held in the UAE on January 23-24.
As a reminder, the US and Ukraine are discussing the possibility of offering Russia a limited “energy truce,” which would involve a cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure on both sides.
