Russian activity remains high: what is happening in Kupyansk and Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region

The activity of Russian troops in Kupyansk has decreased, however, the intensity of operations in the Kharkiv region remains high – the enemy is trying to advance in the South-Slobozhansk direction.

This was stated by Viktor Tregubov, head of the communications department of the Joint Forces Group, during a telethon.

“Russians are not showing any tendency to reduce their efforts, any tendency to reduce their overall intensity,” he emphasized.

Now the Russians are trying to expand their control in the city of Vovchansk, and are also actively storming in the Lymansky direction.

“Activity has decreased slightly compared to what it was in Velyky Burlutsk and directly in the city of Kupyansk,” the military man explained.

However, the Russians are still active around Kupyansk. One of the biggest problems there is enemy drones of various types.

In addition, worsening weather conditions – fog complicates the work of Ukrainian UAV pilots. As noted, some drones do not fly at all, some have worse performance. Given these factors, the Russians are trying to infiltrate deeper.

According to Tregubov, currently Kupyansk has more political, rather than logistical, significance for the Russian Federation.

“If earlier it was talked about as some kind of railway junction, now it is more likely that it is the largest of the cities in the Kharkiv region, where the so-called referendum was held even before they fled from there. That is why it would be so nice for them to return here. Judging by how actively Putin himself lies about Kupyansk, they really want to show that they have progress in a number of areas at once, including great progress in the Kharkiv region,” he summed up.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have cut off Russian troops from supplies in Kupyansk, Kharkiv Oblast, so they are trying to advance by bypassing the city from the sides.

As is known, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting an operation to clear Kupyansk of Russian occupiers. About 60 Russian servicemen remain in the city.
