Russian agents who were preparing the murders of military personnel and volunteers were exposed in Kyiv and the region
The SBU and the National Police prevented a series of contract killings in Kyiv and the region, which were being prepared by Russian agents.
This was reported by the press center of the National Police.
Law enforcement officers have uncovered a four-person spy network that was acting on the instructions of a supervisor from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. The group members planned to eliminate a public figure and representatives of the Defense Forces.
According to the investigation, each person had a clear role. One of the suspects, the head of a security company, provided transportation – a car with flashing lights that did not attract attention. The driver was supposed to deliver the killer to the crime scene and help him escape.
The direct perpetrator was recruited in Kherson in 2022. After the de-occupation, his accomplice left for Russia and continued to coordinate subversive activities.
Communication between the participants was maintained through closed messengers, weapons were obtained from caches in the Kyiv and Cherkasy regions.
Law enforcement officers have detained all those involved in the preparation of the murder of a volunteer unit commander in Kyiv. During the searches, weapons, phones, and other evidence were seized.
The investigation established that the group was preparing several more murders using explosives that they planned to plant under cars.
All those detained were charged with high treason, attempted murder, and unauthorized actions with information. They face 10 years to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The curator and his accomplice were charged in absentia.
It was previously reported that the Security Service of Ukraine eliminated a Russian military intelligence hitman and detained members of an intelligence-combat group who were preparing high-profile murders.
