Russian analogue of Starlink will create a new threat for Ukraine – Flash

The Russian satellite network “Rassvet”, which is being created as an analogue of Starlink, could become a serious problem for Ukraine. It will not only improve the communications of the Russian military on the front, but also could give them new capabilities for controlling drones.

This was reported by the advisor to the President of Ukraine, Serhiy Beskrestnov, known as Flash.

According to him, the improved communications of Russian troops after the launch of Rassvet is just one of the consequences. He sees a much greater threat in the ability to control drones via a satellite network.

Currently, Ukraine cannot use Starlink to control UAVs online over Russian territory because the system does not work there. The Russian military may not have such a restriction after launching its own network.

This means that the Russians will be able to use satellite communications to control drones online over the territory of Ukraine.

“Communications on the enemy’s fronts will improve – everything is clear here. The main threat is that we cannot currently use Starlink for online control of UAVs over Russia. It does not work there. But the Russians will be able to attack our entire country using UAVs with online control via their satellites,” Beskrestnov explained.

In his opinion, Ukraine needs to use the time until the full launch of Rassvet to create countermeasures. In particular, this concerns the development of electronic warfare systems capable of suppressing the operation of the Russian satellite network.

Recall that Russia is significantly ahead of its own plans to deploy the Rassvet satellite system , which is positioned as the Russian analogue of Starlink.
