Russian athletes allowed to participate in international field hockey competitions

The International Field Hockey Federation (FIH) has lifted restrictions on Russian athletes and teams and allowed them to participate in its international competitions.
This was written by Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev on Telegram.
At the same time, restrictions on the use of the national flag, anthem and symbols remain for Russian representatives. It is also prohibited to hold FIH events and competitions on Russian territory.
The FIH Executive Board made this decision taking into account the decisions of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of July 7, 2026, which restored the status of the Russian Olympic Committee.
Field hockey is included in the program of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
In particular, FIH became the 21st international sports federation to lift all restrictions on the participation of Russian athletes.
It was previously reported thatthe International Olympic Committee (IOC) has temporarily reinstated the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). The ban on its activities was in effect from October 12, 2023.
