On December 23, the Zaporizhstal steelworks completely lost its power supply due to massive Russian attacks on energy infrastructure facilities. The lack of power caused a forced emergency shutdown of the company’s production facilities.
As reported by the company’s press service, after the power outage at the plant, backup energy sources were promptly activated, which allowed for a controlled shutdown of technological processes in accordance with safety requirements.
The company emphasized that thanks to the timely actions of the staff, it was possible to prevent man-made incidents and minimize emissions into the atmosphere.
Representatives of Zaporizhstal assured that there is no threat to the life and health of the company’s employees and city residents. Resumption of production is possible only after the external energy supply is fully restored.
As a reminder, after the massive Russian attack on December 23 , Ukrainian nuclear power plants reduced electricity production, and consumers were blacked out in eight regions.
