Russian attack leaves part of Kyiv without internet: data center destroyed and provider node damaged

A Ukrainian data center that housed hosting provider MiroHost was destroyed in a Russian attack. The attack also damaged the main node of the Internet provider Etherlink network, which serves subscribers, including in the central part of Kyiv.
This was reported by the dev.ua publication, citing comments from MiroHost founder and Internet Invest chairman Oleksandr Olshansky, as well as representatives of Etherlink.
According to Olshansky, the consequences of the attack only affect MiroHost’s Ukrainian infrastructure. Approximately 90% of the hosting provider’s clients work outside of Ukraine, so services continue to operate as usual for them.
The timing of the restoration of MiroHost’s Ukrainian infrastructure is currently not known due to the destruction of the data center.
Etherlink said that due to damage to the main node, the internet is currently unavailable. They plan to move the network core to another location, but they are still looking for a suitable location.

It was previously reported that there were internet outages in Kyiv after the Russian attack. Providers “Pavutina” and UTELS reported connection problems.
