Russian attack on Kyiv: death toll rises to 11, including a child

Search and rescue operations are ongoing in Kyiv after massive shelling by the Russian Federation. The death toll has risen to 11, including 1 child. 93 people were injured, including 11 children. All units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Emergency Service and the police continue to work at the scene of the tragedy.

The day before, it was reported that 9 people were killed and more than 1,200 police officers and rescuers were involved in eliminating the consequences of the shelling.

Progress of the search and rescue operation:

• Rescuers have already removed almost 500 tons of building structures.
• 36 destroyed cars were removed.
• Four dog teams were involved in the search for people under the rubble.
• Psychologists from the State Emergency Service and the police provided assistance to almost 100 victims.

Police have received about 2,000 reports from citizens, most of them about damaged property. Investigators are working on the ground, documenting the aftermath of the shelling and taking reports.

In addition, mobile centers of the migration service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs help people who have lost their documents: 4 ID cards and 1 driver’s license have already been issued, and dozens of consultations have been provided on document restoration.

Units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Emergency Service will remain on site until search and rescue operations are fully completed.

As a reminder, on the night of Thursday, July 31, Russian forces carried out a combined attack on Kyiv, using missiles and drones. The strike resulted in significant destruction in several areas of the capital, with fatalities and dozens of injuries.

It later became known that in Kyiv, the rubble after the night shelling continues to be cleared. Rescuers found the body of a deceased person in the destroyed entrance of a high-rise building in the Svyatoshynskyi district.
