A Russian drone attacked a gas station in the Yagodyn region of Volyn, near the Polish border. Poland scrambled fighter jets after the attack.
This was announced by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on September 17, RMF FM reports.
According to him, the explosion occurred near Dorohusk, and the drone likely fell or was shot down on Ukrainian territory.
“I received another message that the Russian attack on the western part of Ukraine has ended. Very close to the Polish border, near Dorohusk, another gas station was probably attacked. There was a very powerful explosion. Our planes took off,” Tusk said.
The spokesman for the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Jacek Horyszewski, reported that the drone fell or was shot down approximately 4 kilometers from the Polish-Ukrainian border.
According to him, it was a jet drone that was rapidly approaching the Polish border. Because of this, the Polish military scrambled fighter jets.
“We are still checking the records of our systems, but we have the first indications that the drone most likely hit the target or was shot down 4 km on the other side of the border, on the Ukrainian side,” Horyshevsky noted.
