On the night of August 20, during Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine, one of the drones entered Romanian airspace and later crashed in the country.

This was reported by the Ministry of National Defense of Romania.

The Romanian military has detected a group of air targets near the Ukrainian border, north of Tulcea County, using radar. Two Spanish Air Force F-18 fighter jets and a Romanian IAR-330 SOCAT helicopter were scrambled to monitor the situation.

One of the drones later crossed the Romanian border. It entered the country’s airspace approximately 13 km east of the city of Galati.

A few minutes later, the drone crashed and caught fire in a deserted area about 4 km northeast of the village of Grindu in Tulcea County.

According to preliminary data, no one was injured as a result of the drone crash, and no material damage was recorded. A military search team has been sent to the scene.
