Russian drone hits NAS of Ukraine building: two academicians killed

Two academics were killed in a Russian strike on the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine building in Kyiv. Former NSDC Secretary Volodymyr Horbulin was also injured, and several people are currently unaccounted for.

This was announced by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Anatoly Zagorodny. Information about Horbulin was published by the BBC.

According to the BBC, the Russian strike hit a room on the floor above Gorbulin’s office. He was injured, and his assistant, according to preliminary information, was killed.

Earlier, the State Emergency Service reported one dead and one injured person. Pavlo Petrov, a spokesman for the State Emergency Service of Kyiv, noted that the number of victims may increase.

After the impact, some people were near the windows of the damaged building and could not get out on their own. Rescuers reached them using ladder trucks and evacuated them.

Rescue operations are ongoing at the scene. Information about the dead and injured is being clarified.
