Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Šakalenė stated that a Gerbera UAV had flown into the country from Belarus.

She spoke about this on LRT radio.

“We can confirm that this is a Gerbera. The use of such a drone can be different, we are finding out for what purpose it was done. At the moment we have no data that this object was intentionally sent to our territory,” she said.

The Lithuanian Armed Forces said that the investigation into the drone is still ongoing. However, it is already known that the drone did not pose a threat.

“We can say that this is a safe object. It is a product made of foam plastic and wood, which resembles an airplane in shape. The reasons for its use, as well as possible targets, are not yet known to us, but we are considering all versions,” said an army representative.

It is known that the drone was flying at an altitude of 100 meters at a speed of 50-60 km/h.

It was previously reported that Lithuania and Finland plan to launch their own production of anti-personnel mines as early as 2025. The main goal is to strengthen national security against the backdrop of the threat from Russia.
