Russian intelligence services planned to kill the head of a German drone company – media

Russian special services planned an assassination attempt on Stefan Tumann, the CEO of the German company Donaustahl, which produces drones, including for Ukraine. German law enforcement officers managed to thwart the preparation of the attack.

This is what Die Zeit writes about.

According to the publication, German special services learned about the threat to Tumann from foreign intelligence at the end of 2025. After that, law enforcement officers began an investigation.

According to investigators, from December 2025 to March 2026, the two suspects followed the Donaustahl CEO. They took photos of his home and company headquarters, and also collected information about him on the Internet.

This spring, law enforcement officers detained two suspects – Ukrainian citizen Serhiy N. in Spain and Romanian citizen Alla S. in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

According to the investigation, they acted in the interests of Russian intelligence. The German Prosecutor General’s Office charged them with working for a foreign intelligence service.

Stefan Thumann is under tight security after the alleged conspiracy was exposed. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt receives regular reports on the progress of the investigation.
