Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said that in January, the Defense Forces stabilized the situation along the front, halted enemy advances, and effectively destroyed Russian personnel and equipment.

He wrote about this on social networks.

In January, Russia lost nearly 32,000 troops—9,000 more than it was able to replace.

“This trend needs to be continued and strengthened,” the Chief of Staff emphasized.

That same month, Ukrainian DeepStrike assets inflicted 48 points of fire damage on the Russian oil industry, reducing the total volume of processing by 19%, or 53.4 million tons per year.

At the same time, the Air Force carried out 80 airstrikes, and strike drones carried out more than 300,000 special missions.

“As a result of the strikes on enemy airfields, the enemy’s use of guided aerial bombs decreased by 5%,” explained Syrsky.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian air defense, having a deficit of means of destruction, destroyed more than 20 thousand air targets of the occupiers and almost 22 thousand Russian UAVs of various types.

“Despite four years of full-scale war against a superior enemy, the Ukrainian army is holding its ground and continues to reduce the size of the Russian aggressor group,” the Commander-in-Chief concluded.

Earlier, Syrskyi reported that over the past six months, the number of Russian troops in Ukraine has remained largely unchanged, standing at approximately 711,000–712,000 personnel, including the operational reserve.

As is known, Syrsky stated that in 2026, Ukraine plans to conduct offensive operations alongside strategic defense.
