Russian offensive capabilities at the front are approaching zero – Vance

US Vice President J.D. Vance said that Russia’s capabilities to conduct large-scale offensive operations on the front are approaching zero. According to him, Ukraine’s defense strategy creates the prerequisites for ending the war.

Vance stated that the widespread use of drones and modern surveillance tools has made a defensive strategy more effective for Ukraine than conducting large-scale offensive operations.
According to the US Vice President, in the summer of 2023, most Western allies, including the administration of then US President Joe Biden, insisted on a Ukrainian counteroffensive. At the same time, he called this decision a “strategic and tactical disaster.”
Vance noted that the current administration of US President Donald Trump supports an approach that combines the negotiation process with maximum defense of Ukraine.
“This approach has been much more fruitful, because it is easier to be on the defensive than on the offensive. It has allowed the Ukrainians to use their tactical advantage a little better. Frankly, the Russians are now in a situation where what they can achieve through prolonged offensive operations is negligible – approaching zero. This may well create the space we need to see this through,” said J.D. Vance.
He also emphasized that Russian troops are paying dearly for every square kilometer of captured territory, while Ukraine, with the support of the US and NATO, has relied on defense.
It was previously reported that the Russian army is trying to attack along the entire front line . Currently, there is an intensification of hostilities even in those areas where it was relatively calm before.
Recall that the pace of the Russian army’s offensive at the front has fallen by about 16 times over the past year . In June, the occupiers were able to capture only about 30 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory.
