The tanker Skiros was attacked in the Black Sea, having previously loaded Russian oil at a terminal near Novorossiysk. No one was injured in the attack and no oil leaked.

This is reported by Bloomberg, citing its own sources.

The attack occurred on Sunday near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal, where the Skiros was previously loading.

The tanker is operated by a Greek company and can carry about a million barrels of oil.

The CPC terminal mainly supplies Kazakh oil, however, according to Bloomberg, it was the cargo of Russian origin on board the Skiros.

The company that operates the vessel said no one was injured in the attack. No marine pollution was reported. No other details of the incident were provided.

This is the first attack on a ship entering the CPC terminal in almost three weeks.

According to Bloomberg, in early August, Ukraine allegedly agreed not to strike the consortium’s infrastructure and non-Russian ships heading to the terminal. However, this does not apply to ships under Ukrainian sanctions or carrying Russian cargo.

Russian oil accounts for about 5-10% of all exports through the CPC.

At the end of July, after a series of attacks on tankers, the consortium even considered suspending operations due to the threat to people and the risk of an oil spill, but ultimately continued operations.
