On January 23, the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine reported suspicions of a Russian military man who tried to shoot a civilian man in Bucha in 2022.
This is reported by the “Book of Executioners” project.
“The suspect, Alexander Nikolaevich Timofeev (born November 1, 1996), is a citizen of the Russian Federation, a native of the Pskov region. During the full-scale invasion, he served as a junior sergeant in the 234th Airborne Assault Regiment of the 76th Airborne Assault Division of the Russian Airborne Forces (military unit 74268, stationed in Pskov),” the material says.
It is known that he held the position of commander of a detachment – commander of a combat vehicle of the communications platoon control detachment of the 2nd battalion tactical group. He actually lived in the village of Khokhly, Palkinsky district, Pskov region.
It is noted that on February 27, 2022, units of the 234th Airborne Assault Regiment took up positions in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region and entered the city of Bucha on armored vehicles with the aim of taking control of the settlement.
Shortly after, a local resident and his family decided to evacuate Buchi to a safer place. On March 5, 2022, at around 9 a.m., he went to a garage about 35 meters from his house, started the car to warm up, and returned home to inform his family that he was ready to leave.
When he went back to the garage to close it, he suddenly saw Russian soldiers who started shooting at him. To show that he was a civilian, the man picked up a white bag and started waving it.
Timofeev, along with two other Russian servicemen armed with machine guns, ordered the man to come forward, undress, and kneel. Timofeev pointed his gun at the victim and held him at gunpoint.
At this moment, the senior military officer gave Timofeev the order to kill the civilian, saying: “At the expense of his ego.”
Following the order, Timofeev brought the weapon into combat position, pointed it at the victim’s head and prepared to shoot. At that moment, the man, trying to escape, stood up abruptly and ran towards his house. Timofeev opened fire and fired several shots at him.
The victim was injured, but survived.
Oleksandr Timofeyev was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – a completed attempt to violate the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder.
As a reminder, employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the regional police headquarters have identified another war criminal who, in the spring of 2022, detained and tortured a couple who helped the Ukrainian military.
As reported, since the beginning of the full-scale war , Ukrainian courts have handed down 14 in-person sentences to captured Russian servicemen for committing war crimes.
