Russian planes flew over the Baltic Sea again on the evening of Thursday, September 25. This time, five Russian aircraft were spotted at once. NATO urgently scrambled its fighter jets for protection.
The fact that Russian aircraft have been detected over the Baltic Sea is stated in a message from the Alliance Air Command in Kh.
It is noted that these are Russian Su-30, Su-35 and three MiG-31s. Two Hungarian Gripen fighters were scrambled from Šiauliai, Lithuania, to intercept the Russian planes.
“Hungary demonstrates the Alliance’s commitment to protecting and ensuring the security of the Baltic states and their eastern flank,” the command noted.
NATO air forces also released photos of Russian aircraft.
It should be noted that earlier this day,four Russian planes flew into the air defense zone near Alaska . They were intercepted.
The day before, Estonia said that three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets violated its airspace and stayed there for 12 minutes.
The Estonian Defense Ministry later reported that the incursion of Russian MiG-31 fighters into the country’s airspace was deliberate .
By the way, on Sunday, September 21, NATO scrambled two German fighter jets to intercept a Russian reconnaissance plane over the Baltic Sea.
