Russian soldier sentenced to life for shooting two civilians in Kharkiv region

A Russian prisoner of war who shot two civilians in the Kharkiv region has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
Prosecutors have fully proven the guilt of a 21-year-old Russian serviceman for violating the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
As a rifleman of the 23rd Motorized Rifle Brigade with the call sign “Dukh”, the war criminal participated in hostilities against Ukraine in the Kupyan region.
In October 2024, he was in the village of Petropavlivka, where, together with other occupiers, he illegally detained three civilian men.
At first, the civilians were held in a house, where they were interrogated. The occupiers tried to “knock out” information about the deployment of the SOU. One of the men managed to escape. The other two remained captive.
On October 8, 2024, the criminal received an order over the radio from his commander with the call sign “Grif” to kill them. He shot two Ukrainians in the house. The occupier was later captured by the Defense Forces.
During the trial, the convicted person admitted his guilt.
Earlier, Russian occupation forces attacked a civilian car traveling on the Novoraisk-Kostyrka highway in the Kherson region with a drone, killing a man and a woman.
In addition, Russian military drones attacked a civilian vehicle in the Yunakivska community of Sumy region . Two people were injured.
