Russian troops lost positions near Volchansk: the Armed Forces of Ukraine spoke about the situation in the Kharkiv region

In the Volchansk direction, Russian troops lost some of their positions due to the deterioration of logistics after the attack on the Belgorod dam. The water level in the reservoir dropped sharply, which led to flooding and cutting off some Russian units from the main forces.

This was reported by the 16th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the military, the enemy tried to take advantage of the weather conditions after a hot summer, when the Seversky Donets and Vovcha rivers became shallow. This simplified the logistics for the Russian offensive, which also managed to accumulate reserves.

The intensification of hostilities is explained by the desire of the new commander of the Sever group to show himself from the best side. Despite this, the Russian successes turned out to be short-lived.

“The enemy managed to achieve local successes, but it did so at the cost of heavy losses. Some units almost completely lost combat readiness,” the report says.

In particular, the first battalion of the 82nd Motorized Rifle Regiment suffered critical losses – only the command remained in the ranks, after which the unit was withdrawn to the rear for reinforcements.

The situation changed dramatically after the damage to the Belgorod Dam. Russian media reported that the water level in the reservoir dropped by one meter in just 24 hours, causing Russian dugouts to flood.

“Water entered the house, or rather, the Seversky Donets River,” the report states.

The water breach significantly complicated enemy logistics. After the leaves fell, the enemy’s crossings and supply routes became more vulnerable. Units that had previously crossed the Seversky Donets were effectively cut off from the rest of the forces.

“So we are waiting for the exchange fund to be replenished,” the Ukrainian military concluded.

It was previously reported that the situation in the front area near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region remains difficult , however, the Defense Forces are controlling it.

We would like to add that in the Belgorod region of Russia, a drone attack destroyed a bridge near the village of Staroseltsevo , which was part of the logistics routes of the Russian military.
