Russian troops strike Odessa: large-scale fires in the city, one dead and many injured

On the night of Friday, June 20, the Russian occupation army launched a massive drone strike on Odessa, with over 10 hits recorded, resulting in large-scale fires. 14 people were injured, including 3 rescue workers.

This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service.

As noted by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office, one person died as a result of the attack.

“Russia massively attacked Odessa with strike drones. More than 10 hits were recorded, large-scale fires broke out,” the post says.

According to rescuers, the 4-story residential building was completely engulfed in flames. 3 people were rescued, and 6 more were evacuated.

“During the fire and rescue efforts, structures collapsed on rescuers – 3 firefighters were injured, they are now in the hospital in stable condition,” emergency responders reported.

The State Emergency Service also reports that a 23-story residential building was damaged – the fire spread to the 18th, 19th, and 20th floors.

600 people were evacuated from the high-rise building. Three people, including two children, were rescued from a blocked apartment.

The fires also engulfed 5 other residential buildings and 3 cars.

“The State Emergency Service has deployed a rescue point at the site of the partially destroyed building. According to residents, there may be another person in the building – search and rescue operations are ongoing. In total, 13 people were injured, including 3 rescuers,” the post says.

The shelling damaged a 23-story building, a number of other apartment buildings, one of which was completely destroyed, outbuildings, an educational institution, shops, and residents’ cars.
