A Tu-22M3 bomber crashed in the Irkutsk region of Russia on June 15. According to the Russian side, the accident occurred during the plane’s approach for landing after a training flight.
This was reported by TASS with reference to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The Russian agency stated that the crew managed to eject, and there was allegedly no damage on the ground.
The Russian Defense Ministry also claims that the plane was flying without ammunition. A commission from the Main Command of the Russian Aerospace Forces has been sent to the scene to investigate the causes of the accident.
According to the ASTRA Telegram channel, the bomber could have taken off from the Belaya military airfield. This facility was one of the targets of the Ukrainian special operation “Web” in 2025, during which the SBU struck Russian strategic aviation.
Belaya Airfield is located approximately 30 kilometers from the crash site.
