Russian Yandex under attack again: drones attack another data center

Ukrainian drones attacked Yandex’s data center in Kaluga and the Ukhta oil refinery in the Komi Republic. The Russian company said that several modules of the data center were completely out of order, and some services may work with interruptions.

Yandex has confirmed damage to its data center infrastructure. The company is currently assessing the extent of the damage, and emergency services and its specialists are working on site.
“Some of Yandex’s services may be operating with interruptions. The full extent of the damage is currently being assessed. Emergency services and company specialists are working on site. There are no injuries, and people’s safety remains the top priority,” the company said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Kaluga Oblast Governor Vladislav Shapsha previously stated that nine people were injured in the nighttime attack in the region. However, he did not report any damage to specific facilities.
Another target of the attack, according to reports from Russia, was the Ukhta oil refinery in the Komi Republic. The enterprise processes about 4.2 million tons of oil per year. There is no information about the consequences of the strike on the refinery in the above reports.
Recall that the day before the attack , Yandex reported problems with the data center’s power supply and disruptions in the operation of some Yandex Cloud services . The company warned customers about possible failures in certain availability zones.
