Russian troops are intensifying their offensive in the areas of Hulyaipol in Zaporizhia Oblast and Velykymykhailivka in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The occupiers are taking advantage of the consequences of strikes on Ukrainian logistics and the difficult operation of Ukrainian drones due to bad weather.
This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War.
The Institute’s analysts note that the Russians are advancing towards Hulyaipol and the T-0401 Pokrovske – Hulyaipol highway, which supplies Ukrainian forces in the area of the city. Ukrainian and Russian sources speak of the movement of the occupiers near Solodke, Yablukove and Vesely – approximately 9 km northeast of Hulyaipol. The enemy is also conducting infiltration operations in the direction of Danylovka along T-0401.
ISW estimates that Russia is trying to isolate or partially surround Hulyaipole from the northeast. Analysts see these actions as a new tactical campaign by Russian troops, combining strikes on logistics with infiltrations and assaults to weaken Ukrainian defenses. At the same time, experts consider a parallel offensive from the south, where Ukraine’s defensive positions are most fortified, unlikely. ISW calls the current situation in the Hulyaipole direction “critical.”
The report emphasizes that the Russian advance was made possible by deteriorating weather conditions, which complicate the operation of Ukrainian UAVs, as well as by prolonged Russian strikes on roads, highways, and railways that supply the Ukrainian military group in the Hulyaipil and Velykymykhailiv directions.
It was previously reported that Russian units are continuing offensive operations in the Kupyansk direction and have already established control over Stepovaya Novoselivka .
