Russians Target Energy Infrastructure in Sumy Region, Cutting Power to Nearly 20,000

Russian forces are deliberately targeting energy and gas infrastructure in the Sumy region, cutting off essential services and disrupting residents’ daily lives.

This was stated by the head of the Sumy OVA, Oleg Hrygorov.

According to him, as a result of the shelling, over 500 consumers were left without electricity in one day. However, energy companies managed to restore the supply.

At the same time, nearly 20,000 consumers across 147 settlements in the Sumy region remain without power.

“Some of these settlements are uninhabited — these are border areas from which all residents have been evacuated,” Grigorov explained.

Additionally, damage was reported to seven more gas facilities during the day. Over 13,000 consumers in the Sumy region currently lack a gas supply.

“We are doing everything possible to restore electricity and gas services to residents of the Sumy region as soon as the security situation permits,” the head of the administration added.

Later, he informed that the enemy once again shelled a critical infrastructure facility in the Sumy district, as a result of which some consumers were left without electricity.

Recall that during a massive attack on July 4, 2025, Russian occupiers damaged DTEK equipment and destroyed two transformer substations.
