Russians are spreading a fake about the alleged murder of a pensioner in Cherkasy region by Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers: what really happened

The Center for Countering Disinformation reported on the spread of fake information about the murder in Cherkasy region. According to the Center, Russian propaganda used a real crime to discredit the Ukrainian military.

This was reported by the press service of the Central Police Department.

The Central Military District noted that hostile Telegram channels spread false information about alleged involvement in the murder of a “24-year-old Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter,” who is allegedly a participant in the “18-24 Contract” program and a “deserter from the 22nd Motorized Rifle Brigade.”

At the same time, it was established that on April 22, a 69-year-old man was indeed murdered in the Zvenigorod region after a street conflict. Law enforcement officers detained a 25-year-old local resident, who, as emphasized, has no connection to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and is not a participant in relevant programs.

“In fact, this story is a cynical manipulation based on a criminal chronicle,” the Center for Countering Disinformation reported.

The department emphasized that such informational attacks are aimed at forming a negative attitude towards Ukrainian military personnel.

“The enemy used the tragic incident to incite hatred towards young servicemen and create the illusion of a “dangerous rear,” where deserters and violence are allegedly prevalent,” the Center noted.

The CPD added that Russian propaganda systematically distorts criminal news in Ukraine, giving those involved in crimes the status of military personnel to discredit the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

By the way, Russian propaganda is spreading a video with unsubstantiated accusations of Ukrainian military personnel allegedly stealing exhibits from the Mariupol Museum in 2022.

It was previously reported that Russian propagandists are spreading a new information hoax about alleged “atrocities” by the Ukrainian military.

As a reminder, the head of the occupation administration in the Donetsk region, Denys Pushylin, actually acknowledged the mass resettlement of Russians to the occupied territories and the change in their demographic composition.
