Russians are trying to create a bridgehead in Zaporizhia: how will this affect the shelling of the regional center?

The Orikhiv direction in the Zaporizhia region remains quite active, where the Russian army is trying to break through Ukrainian defenses.

This was stated in a comment to RBC-Ukraine by the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn.

According to him, there are several points of fighting in the Orikhiv area – enemy forces are making attempts to advance deep into the territory of the Zaporizhia region.

In particular, the enemy is conducting assaults near Prymorske and Plavni in order to approach Stepnohirsk – to infiltrate and displace units of the Defense Forces.

As Voloshyn explained, the settlement is located on commanding heights. Having captured it, the enemy will be able to place certain types of weapons there.

In this case, the eastern, southeastern, and southern outskirts of Zaporizhia will be under the fire control of the Russian army.

In addition, there will be a threat of shelling of logistical routes leading from the regional center to Hulyaipol and Orekhov.

“It is worth noting that the Oleksandrivka direction is also quite active now, where the enemy also conducted almost a dozen and a half combat clashes. Here he tried to break through our defenses near several settlements,” the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces noted.

At the same time, he assured that Ukrainian units are countering the enemy, blocking its advance, and destroying the occupiers.

It was previously reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces improved their positions in the west of Zaporizhia region , advancing south of Stepnohirsk and strengthening the defense line in this direction.

We remind you that the occupation forces are trying to infiltrate and gain a foothold in the suburbs of Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhia region. The enemy is constantly trying to conduct infiltration operations in the front areas near Plavni, Primorske, and Kamiansky.
