In Zaporizhia region, Russian troops attacked a passenger train with a drone. Thanks to the timely evacuation of passengers and staff, there were no deaths or injuries.

A Russian drone hit a passenger train on Saturday, July 18. The train was damaged as a result of the attack.

Ukrzaliznytsia reported that casualties were avoided thanks to the prompt warning of the monitoring group. Passengers, locomotive and train crews were evacuated in time.

“Thanks to the prompt warning of the Ukrzaliznytsia monitoring group, all passengers, as well as the locomotive and train crews, were evacuated in a timely manner,” Ukrzaliznytsia reported.

Currently, the passengers are in a safe shelter and will be transported to Zaporizhia by special buses.

The company also noted that due to the shelling, train traffic in the region will temporarily be carried out according to a dispatch schedule with increased control by monitoring groups.

Passengers of flights heading to or from Zaporizhia were recommended to follow personalized notifications about train movements in the Ukrzaliznytsia mobile application.

Recall that during the Russian attack on Sumy, debris from a downed drone damaged passenger train No. 143 Sumy – Rakhiv. Due to the incident, the train continued its movement with a significant delay.
