On the night of September 8, Russian troops launched a massive attack on the energy infrastructure in the Kyiv region. One of the thermal generation facilities came under fire, causing power outages in the region.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

The department noted that the Russian attack was directed exclusively against the civilian population, as the shelling could result in the power outage of Ukrainian homes, hospitals, schools, and kindergartens.

In particular, the Trypilska thermal power plant, located in the Obukhiv district of the Kyiv region, was targeted. According to monitoring channels, as a result of the enemy attack, power went out in a number of settlements in the region.

The Ministry of Energy emphasized that the enemy is deliberately striking at critically important infrastructure – generation facilities, electricity transmission and distribution systems, as well as gas facilities.

Rescuers and emergency teams of energy workers are currently working at the site of the attack, eliminating the consequences of the attack and trying to stabilize the situation as quickly as possible.

The Ministry of Energy emphasized that any changes in the supply of electricity to the population will be notified separately.

Recall that on the evening of September 7, Russian occupation forces shelled Semenivka in Chernihiv region. The strike damaged critical infrastructure.

As noted, Russian troops are purposefully attacking energy and gas infrastructure facilities in Sumy region , depriving residents of the necessary conditions for life. As of July 2025, 20 thousand consumers were without electricity, and more than 13 thousand were without gas.
