Russians attacked Sumy and Kyiv region: people in Sumy found themselves under rubble

Russian occupation forces launched eight guided bomb strikes on Sumy on the evening of August 27. The shelling targeted a residential area, an industrial zone, civilian infrastructure, and a service station. Three people were injured.

This was reported by the Sumy City Military Administration and “Kordon.Media”.

The first four KABs hit the city at around 8:30 p.m. Four more hits followed about an hour later. A total of eight hits were recorded in five locations.

One of the air bombs destroyed a private house. People were trapped under the rubble, but they were rescued. The blast wave and debris damaged about 15 neighboring houses, outbuildings, and cars.

During the second strike, four KABs hit an industrial zone and the territory of a service station in the Zarechny district. Cars and utility buildings caught fire there.

“The impacts caused cars and utility rooms to catch fire, the fires are being localized,” the Sumy MVA reported.

At the same time, on the night of August 28, Russian troops attacked the Nova Poshta warehouses in Sviatopetrivske, Bilogorodsk community in the Kyiv region.

According to Anton Ovsienko, the head of the Belogorodsk village council, after the first hit, the Russians struck the same location twice more. At that time, rescuers were already working there, extinguishing the fire.

“Almost an hour after the first hit, when rescuers were already extinguishing the fire, two more hits were made at the same location – the specialists managed to retreat to a safer place,” said Ovsienko.

The attack damaged the Nova Poshta warehouses and a nearby production facility. The State Emergency Service, police, municipal services, and the local fire brigade are working at the scene. Information about possible victims is being clarified.

Due to heavy smoke, residents of Svyatopetrovske and surrounding areas were urged to close their windows and not go outside unnecessarily. Traffic was also temporarily restricted on certain sections of Kyivska, Industrialna, and Chornovola streets.
