“We confirm the fact of the damage to one of the ships of the Ukrainian Navy, the consequences of the attack are currently being eliminated. The majority of the crew is safe. The search for several military sailors continues. Unfortunately, one crew member was killed, several were injured,” said Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy.

At the moment, the military command is not disclosing details about the nature of the damage to the ship and the circumstances of the attack. At the same time, it is known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are taking measures to eliminate the consequences.

At the same time, Russian propaganda sources claim that the reconnaissance ship “Simferopol” was hit. The Ukrainian side has not officially confirmed this data.

“Simferopol” is a medium reconnaissance ship of the “Laguna” project (an electronic reconnaissance ship based on a modernized medium fishing trawler of the 502EM project). It was laid down at the “Kuznya na Rybalskoe” enterprise in Kyiv, launched on April 23, 2019, and entered the Ukrainian Navy in 2021.

The ship is designed to conduct electronic reconnaissance, control water areas, and provide information superiority during combat operations.
