Russians attacked Zaporizhstal and ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih: there are dead and wounded

On the night of September 12, Russian forces launched missile strikes on the industrial enterprises ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih and Zaporizhstal. The attacks on ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih killed 2 contractors, injured 2 more, and injured 4 workers at Zaporizhstal.

Production and auxiliary facilities at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih were damaged. Rescuers, firefighters, medics, and occupational safety specialists are working at the enterprise, and search and rescue operations are ongoing.

4 ballistic missiles hit Zaporizhstal. Equipment in the blast furnace and open-hearth workshops, the power system, the company’s networks, and logistics infrastructure were damaged.

According to Metinvest’s preliminary assessment, the damage at Zaporizhstal is critical. The final extent of the damage will be determined after the facilities are inspected.

One of the 4 injured workers refused hospitalization after being treated. Another 3 workers with moderate injuries were taken to hospitals.

Zaporizhstal did not resume production after the previous attacks on August 11 and 27. Since the enterprise was not operating, there is no threat of a man-made accident.

Metinvest’s Chief Operating Officer, Oleksandr Myronenko, stated that the company produced cast iron and steel for civilian needs and, according to the company, did not have any facilities that could make it a military target.

Zaporizhstal is currently eliminating the consequences of the impact and examining the damaged equipment.
