Russians have stepped up their assaults in the Orekhovsky direction: the Ukrainian Armed Forces have revealed the invaders’ tactics.

In the Orekhovo area, Russian troops have increased the intensity of military operations and are increasingly attempting to penetrate Ukrainian lines in small groups. The occupiers are seeking to consolidate their positions in settlements controlled by the Defense Forces.

This was discussed on Public Radio with Dmitry Pelikh, head of the communications department of the 118th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to him, the increased activity of Russian troops is linked to the approach of late autumn, when the movement of occupiers will become more noticeable due to the reduction in vegetation.

“The enemy is attempting to infiltrate between our combat formations in order to enter and consolidate their positions in the settlements we hold,” Pelikh noted.

In particular, we are talking about Orehi and Malaya Tokmachka.

The military man explained that the Russians understand the difficulty of capturing these settlements by assault, so they systematically use air power. He said they could drop several dozen guided bombs on them daily.

Pelykh noted that Russian troops are attempting to destroy Ukrainian positions and then enter populated areas. At the same time, the Defense Forces will not hold on to destroyed positions at the cost of significant losses, but will withdraw to more advantageous positions if necessary.

“The enemy, at the cost of thousands of lives of its own personnel, is gradually succeeding in entering such settlements. Although, as I’ve already said, there’s nowhere to gain a foothold,” the soldier emphasized.
