Russians hit university in Kyiv during classes: buildings suffer significant damage
Russian troops attacked the National University of Food Technologies in Kyiv on the morning of September 2. The attack occurred during classes, but 160 students were taking shelter. Some university buildings suffered significant damage.
This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, and the consequences of the attack were shown at the National University of Food Technologies and the Ministry of Education and Science.
The university reported that the Russian strike damaged several buildings. The number of injured is currently being determined.
“What was just yesterday a familiar space for studying, working, meeting, and hundreds of daily stories looks completely different today. But the university is, first of all, people. And as long as we are together, it cannot be destroyed,” the NUHT said .
Zelenskyy clarified that the Russian “shaheeds” attacked the university directly during classes. At that moment, 160 students were in shelter.
The President also drew attention to the intensification of Russian attacks in other regions of Ukraine. At night, Russian troops struck Odessa, where they damaged a residential building and urban infrastructure . Five people were injured, including a child.
In Kherson, Russians attacked a rescue and police building. In the Kharkiv region, thousands of people were left without electricity as a result of the strikes, and there are also injured.
Zelensky said the world and its most influential leaders are not responding sufficiently to the escalation of Russian strikes. He said partners should increase pressure on Moscow, tighten sanctions and provide Ukraine with more air defenses.
