Russians infiltrated the urban development of Pokrovsk: preparing for further offensive

The situation in Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, remains difficult. Russian troops are seeking to create conditions for a complete encirclement of the city.

This was stated by the Chief of the General Staff Andriy Gnatov, RBC-Ukraine reports.

“This is one of the hottest areas today. The enemy does not give up on attempts to capture Pokrovsk and create conditions for its encirclement by the Pokrovsk-Mirnograd agglomeration,” the official noted.

According to him, the Russians have been trying to capture Pokrovsk for more than a year.

“They are trying to create conditions there to capture this relatively small city,” Gnatov added.

He noted that currently the enemy has an advantage in forces and means. Some of the occupiers have infiltrated the city buildings, especially in the southern districts of the city. In this way, the enemy is trying to create centers for further offensive.

As a reminder, Russian troops are actively strengthening their positions in Pokrovsk and accumulating resources capable of conducting surveillance and striking the entire settlement. Control over key approaches to the city has not yet been achieved, which poses a serious threat to Ukrainian defenders.

Earlier, the military said that the Russians had reduced their activity in Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, to reduce casualties while waiting for reinforcements.

It is known that the Defense Forces of Ukraine have stopped the expansion of the occupiers’ presence in the northern areas of Pokrovsk and are conducting a clearance operation there.

It is worth noting that a comprehensive operation to destroy and displace enemy forces is underway in the Pokrovsko-Mirnograd agglomeration . The city’s defense is being coordinated and supported by additional units, weapons, and unmanned systems.
