Russians massively attacked Kharkiv with missiles and UAVs: three people died, including a 2-year-old child
On the night of August 18, Kharkiv came under massive attack by Russian drones. The strikes on the Industrial District killed at least three people, including a 2-year-old boy, and injured 17 others, including several children.
This was announced by the head of the Kharkiv OVA, Oleg Synegubov.
At around 1 a.m. on August 18, enemy drones were spotted in the Kharkiv region. Within minutes, the first explosions were heard, and later it became known about numerous destruction and casualties.
According to the OVA, the Industrial District of the city was hit by an enemy strike. The rocket hit the ground near residential buildings, damaging more than ten high-rise buildings and five parked cars. The blast wave shattered more than a thousand windows.
Initially, 11 victims were reported, including a 13-year-old child. People suffered injuries and acute stress reactions. Over time, the number of victims increased – among them were found a 10-year-old boy, a 19-year-old girl, a 46-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman, who had to be hospitalized. Also, a 6-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy required medical attention.
Unfortunately, the attack resulted in civilian casualties. Initially, it was reported that a 45-year-old man had died, and later rescuers confirmed the death of a 2-year-old boy who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries when the UAV hit an apartment building. Later, another death was reported, a 55-year-old woman. This brings the death toll to three.
Among the injured are people of different ages: from children to elderly women, including a 69-year-old, 55-year-old, and 61-year-old victim who is receiving necessary medical care.
As of 6:45 a.m., an emergency rescue operation is underway in the Industrial District. Rescuers from the State Emergency Service have freed a woman from the rubble, who, according to preliminary data, may be the mother of the deceased boy. The total number of victims has reached 17 at this time.
All specialized services continue to work at the scene of the tragedy.
