Russians massively attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles and drones: at least six people killed, 19 more injured

On the night of June 23, Kyiv again came under massive Russian attack. The enemy used both strike drones and ballistic missiles. At least six people were killed and 19 others were injured as a result of the shelling. Numerous destruction of buildings, fires, collapse of structures, and burning cars were recorded in six districts of the capital.

An airstrike was declared in Kyiv after 1 a.m. Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said air defense forces were operating in Obolon, and later there were alarming reports of debris hitting residential areas.

According to Vitaliy Klitschko, the Shevchenkivskyi district was the most affected, where debris hit a five-story residential building. The floors of the fourth and fifth floors were destroyed, the roof partially collapsed. Nearby, a 25-story building was damaged by the blast wave – rescuers evacuated ten residents from there, including a pregnant woman and a child.

As of this morning, six Kyiv residents have died and 19 have been injured. Eight of them are in hospitals. Among the injured are residents of Darnytskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, Podilskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts.

In the Svyatoshyn district, debris hit a public transport stop and several cars – three people were injured.

The State Emergency Service reported that as of 7 a.m., at least four people had been confirmed dead. Ten more had been rescued, including two children and a pregnant woman. Rescue efforts are ongoing, and people may be trapped under the rubble.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, the entrance of a high-rise building was destroyed, and cars caught fire in the yard. In the Solomyanskyi district, the roof of a business center and a four-story office building (800 sq m) were on fire. Fires were also recorded in open areas.

The State Emergency Service has deployed ladder trucks and special equipment, and all emergency services are working continuously.

Due to the consequences of the impact, traffic in Kyiv has undergone changes , especially in the area of the Svyatoshyn metro station and on Ivan Vyhovsky Street.

Changes in traffic:

  • trolleybuses No. 4, 5, 26, 35 — run to Valeriy Marchenko Square;
  • bus No. 32 — Litovsky Avenue – Bilytska Street;
  • bus No. 36TR — Pivnichna St. – ES Ave. – Chornobylska St. to Marchenko Square;
  • buses No. 37, 37A — detour via the “Nyvky” metro station;
  • bus No. 90 — follows route No. 23;
  • Trolleybus No. 41 is delayed.

The metro is operating normally, but the exit to Chornobayivska Square (Heroes of Brest) from the Svyatoshyn station is temporarily closed.

City authorities urge passengers to take temporary changes into account when planning their routes.
