Russians massively attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles: nine people killed, 46 more injured

On the night of July 6, Russia launched a massive missile strike on Kyiv, with the first reports of explosions appearing at approximately 2 a.m. The attack affected the Holosiivskyi, Podolskyi, Darnytskyi, and Obolonskyi districts of the capital, with fatalities and dozens of injuries.

This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko , Head of Kyiv Metropolitan Police Agency Timur Tkachenko , and the State Emergency Service .

The greatest destruction was recorded in the Podilskyi district . A nine-story residential building was partially destroyed from the 9th to the 5th floors, with people trapped on the upper floors.

Rescuers took 15 people out of the building, including three women and 6 children from the upper floors. According to the updated information from the State Emergency Service, 17 people were taken to fresh air, and another 28 were rescued from the upper floors using a ladder truck. The rescue operation in the building continued.

At other addresses in the district, a warehouse caught fire, the roof covering of the building and the elevator shaft caught fire, and there was partial destruction on the roof of a 19-story building. Debris fell on another residential building and on the territory of one of the residential complexes, and cars were burning in the yard there. In a 21-story building, floors 2 to 5 were destroyed as a result of debris, and the search for the injured was ongoing. Debris also hit a 25-story building at the 16th floor.

In Darnytskyi district, debris hit a non-residential building and also caused a fire in an apartment building. In one of the residential complexes, debris fell on the 4th floor of a 25-story building, trapping people on the upper floors. Rescuers rescued 22 people from the building and found two dead.

At another address, a fire broke out in apartments covering an area of 150 square meters in a 25-story building. A fire was recorded nearby in a garage cooperative. In a 30-story residential building, a fire broke out on floors 23 to 25 due to debris hitting the building, and residents were evacuated.

In the Holosiivskyi district, a fire broke out in a non-residential building, as well as debris falling in an open area. Later, a fire was recorded in a five-story residential building and a fire in a non-residential building in the same area.

A warehouse building caught fire in the Obolon district , as well as a fire in a non-residential building.

As of 5:20 a.m., the number of people injured in the attack was 24, including two children aged 7 and 8. Some of the victims were hospitalized, while others were treated on an outpatient basis.

Later, it became known that the death toll had risen to seven. Rescuers unblocked two more bodies from under the rubble, after which the total number of victims increased from five to seven.

As of 7:17 a.m., 9 deaths and 46 injuries have been confirmed as a result of the Russian attack. The head of the Kyiv MVA added that five children are among the injured.

“Unfortunately, this is not final information. Work to rescue people is still ongoing,” Tkachenko said.

Tkachenko reported that the enemy was hitting Kyiv with ballistic missiles, and urged residents to stay in shelters. He also noted that the attack was once again directed at civilian objects. Rescuers and all relevant services continued to work at the scene, information about the victims is being clarified.

The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Russia was preparing a new massive strike on the territory of Ukraine . According to him, this is evidenced by Ukrainian intelligence data, and partners should accelerate decisions on strengthening air defense.

Recall that Russian troops carried out an air strike on Zaporizhia , resulting in the death of 1 person and the injury of 9 others. Private houses and a multi-storey residential building were hit, and a fire also broke out.
