Russia’s information wars are aimed at destroying Ukraine from within – Budanov

Russia is waging an information war against Ukraine, trying to manipulate Ukrainian society to destroy national unity, but these attempts will not succeed.

This was stated by the head of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kirill Budanov.

“The Russian Federation is systematically waging special information wars against us. These are no longer operations, not even wars, but wars aimed at manipulating the emotions of our society. In the opinion of the Russians, they should lead to the destruction of the state from within. But I am sure that they will not be able to do this,” he said.

Budanov called on Ukrainians to consciously consume information and not spread rumors and not give in to emotions. He also noted that sometimes an excessive desire to learn about the course of hostilities, the nomenclature and quantity of weapons supplies becomes the cause of the death of Ukraine’s defenders.

The head of the State Security Service also stated the need to stop the dissemination of unverified information, in particular from foreign sources.

“We need to be more careful with the information that is broadcast in the media of different countries of the world. All countries have absolutely their own personal state goals. We must respect this and treat it normally,” Budanov noted.

Ukrainians were previously warned that in the coming days, Russian propaganda would intensify speculation on the topic of rallies in Ukraine in its information campaigns .
