Drones have attacked the Omsk oil refinery in Russia. Local residents reported two explosions and smoke from the plant, and the governor of the Omsk region confirmed the attack.
This is reported by ASTRA.
Witnesses said at least two explosions were heard during the attack. They also reported smoke coming from the pipes of the Omsk refinery.
“The Omsk refinery is under attack. Smoke is coming from the pipes there. Two explosions were heard,” local residents said.
Omsk Oblast Governor Vitaly Khotsenko said that Russian air defenses are allegedly repelling the drone attack. According to him, the region’s operational services have been put on high alert.
Before the attack, a drone emergency was declared in the Omsk region. Temporary restrictions on the acceptance and release of aircraft were introduced at the Omsk airport.
The Omsk Refinery is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia. In July of this year, the plant was already attacked by Ukrainian drones, after which its operations were completely halted.
As a reminder, on the night of Thursday, October 8, the Ukrainian Defense Forces, according to preliminary data, attacked two important industrial facilities in Russia – the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refining complex in Bashkortostan and the Sasta plant in the Ryazan region. Fires were reported on the territory of both enterprises.
