Last night, Russian forces launched one of their largest strikes on the capital, using a large number of drones and missiles. The shelling damaged residential buildings and key urban infrastructure.
This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.
“The shelling affected residential areas, schools, medical facilities, and transport facilities. As of this morning, more than 20 people were wounded, including a 10-year-old girl,” he noted.
Kyiv’s railway network also suffered serious damage. Part of the contact network has already been restored, electricity has been supplied. Trains are gradually returning to their usual schedule, but delays in departures from the capital are still possible.
In addition to the destruction, the consequences of the night attack are also felt in the state of the environment. According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection, on the morning of July 4, the level of atmospheric air pollution in Kyiv was assessed as high. This was due to large-scale fires that broke out due to strikes on civilian objects.
The ministry recommends that residents of the capital, especially people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, follow precautionary measures: do not go outside unnecessarily, do not open windows, drink more fluids, and use air purifiers, if available.
The radiation background in Kyiv remains within normal limits.
Recall, on the night of Friday, July 3, the Russian army carried out another massive air attack on Kyiv . First, kamikaze drones were launched over the city, then missiles. The consequences of the shelling were serious: significant destruction, numerous fires, and civilian casualties were recorded.
As reported, on the night of July 4 , Russia carried out one of the most powerful attacks in recent times, launching over 550 air targets at Ukraine . The main direction of the strike was Kyiv. Ukraine’s air defenses were able to destroy 478 of them, including Iskander-K cruise missiles and hundreds of Shahed kamikaze drones.
