The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the destruction of several strategic facilities in the Russian Federation on the night of September 20. These facilities include oil refining facilities.
Specifically, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck the Saratov Oil Refinery. It accounts for approximately 2.54% of Russia’s total oil refining volume (over 7 million tons annually). A fire broke out in the target area.
Also on September 20, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces struck the Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery, which processes over 8.8 million tons of oil annually. Explosions and a fire were recorded at the facility.
The Samara line production and control station, where high- and low-sulfur crude oil from various fields is blended to form the Urals export grade, was also damaged. Overall, this accounts for up to 50% of Russia’s total export volume.
