Moldovan President Maia Sandu has confirmed Prime Minister Dorin Recean’s statement regarding Russia’s intention to deploy 10,000 troops in Transnistria.

This was reported by ZIUA.md.

Moldovan President Maia Sandu stated that she has “certain information” indicating that the Russian Federation is preparing to deploy troops in Transnistria.

“This is exactly what Recean was referring to. It represents a real danger in a scenario where the government in Chișinău would be controlled by Russia. Where did this figure come from? From the information we have. This is a dangerous number,” she emphasized.

However, the Moldovan president did not specify which institutions provided her with the information about the potential deployment of Russian forces in Transnistria.

Earlier, Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recan stated that Moscow could deploy up to 10,000 of its military personnel on the territory of unrecognized Transnistria, which would create a new threat point for Ukraine and NATO countries.
