The Saratov Oil Refinery, owned by the Russian company Rosneft, has stopped oil processing after its only primary processing unit was damaged by a Ukrainian drone attack on July 8.
Reuters reports this.
According to the agency, the company has also stopped selling petroleum products on the exchange. Last year, the plant processed about 5.8 million tons of oil.
Meanwhile, the Financial Times reports that the fuel crisis in Russia has affected more than 50 million people. According to the publication, fuel shortages in some regions of the country are reminiscent of the situation during the late Soviet era.
In addition, Russian oil refineries have lost 20% to 40% of their production capacity due to Ukrainian drone strikes. In June, Russia processed an average of 4.1 million barrels of oil per day, which is 28% less than the average of the past five years and 35% below the nominal capacity of the refineries.
It was previously reported that the Security Service of Ukraine confirmed strikes on two Russian oil depots in the Tver region and Stavropol Territory . The special operation was carried out on the night of July 9 with the aim of reducing the military-economic potential of the aggressor state.
