Saving people and a new approach to mobilization: what Drapatiy is betting on

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapatiy, is focusing on preserving personnel, more evenly replenishing brigades, and distributing military personnel to positions according to their skills. At the same time, priority is given to professional and effective commanders in personnel policy.

This was stated by Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the 429th separate brigade of unmanned systems “Achilles” in an interview with “Shelter”.

According to him, Drapaty’s main principle remains the preservation of people. It is around this approach that changes in the army are currently being built.

One of the first areas was the distribution of mobilization resources between brigades. Previously, some units received reinforcements first, while others constantly experienced a shortage of people. Now, according to Fedorenko, they are trying to level the situation.

Another priority is to distribute mobilized and returning military personnel from the North-Eastern Front to positions based on their profession, skills, and experience.

“If you were a gas-electric welder before recruiting, then you will work as a gas-electric welder in the army,” Fedorenko gave an example.

According to him, in the long term, this approach, along with the development of recruiting, should help increase the number of people who join the army voluntarily.

The changes also concern the distribution of weapons and military equipment. Now the military leadership is determining the real needs of the units and reviewing the approach to centralized resource distribution.

Drapatiy pays special attention to personnel decisions. Fedorenko noted that not “convenient” but professional and effective military personnel should be appointed to leadership positions. At the same time, changes in the command structure will occur gradually after evaluating the work of officers.

Another direction has been greater corps autonomy. This means reducing the constant reassignment of brigades and forming a more stable system in which corps receive the necessary forces and more independently carry out their assigned tasks.

Fedorenko emphasized that the results of these changes will not be immediate. According to his assessment, the effect of new approaches to recruiting and commanding the army will be visible in about six months.

As previously reported, new personnel appointments were made in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in important areas of Donbas . Colonel Emil Ishkulov headed the 11th Army Corps, and Valeriy Skred became the commander of the 19th Corps.

As a reminder, Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov noted that Drapatiy is now appointing competent leaders to technical areas . According to him, the new commanders are energetic, modern, and sociable.

According to media reports, the commander of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anatoliy Kazmirchuk and the Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces Oleksandr Gruzevych lost their positions.
