SBU detained a BEB official who had a business in Luhansk and paid taxes to the Russian Federation

On Thursday, October 9, the Security Service of Ukraine, together with representatives of the internal security of the Bureau of Economic Security, exposed the deputy head of the territorial department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Odessa region. The latter was cooperating with the aggressor country, the Russian Federation.
According to the SBU press service, the official turned out to be a co-founder of a Luhansk real estate company that operates in the temporarily occupied territory and pays taxes to the Russian budget.
In 2023, the company was registered under Russian law, and the official himself owns 50% of the authorized capital.
According to the investigation, the company rents premises to commercial structures and public organizations that support the occupation forces. Moreover, on its own website and social media pages, the company posted appeals for fundraising for the Russian army.
The other half of the business was controlled by the official’s accomplice, who was also detained.
Currently, SBU investigators are preparing a report to both defendants on suspicion under Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – aiding and abetting an aggressor state.
Under this article, perpetrators face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are checking the suspect’s possible involvement in other financial schemes that could have worked in favor of the occupiers.
We will remind, earlier the Security Service of Ukraine identified the Russian commander who gave the order to shoot three civilians in the Kupyansk direction.
The SBU also eliminated six criminal schemes for evading mobilization that operated in various regions of the country, and on October 3, security forces detained one of the heads of the Central Interregional Department of the Ministry of Justice , who organized a scheme for conscripts to avoid mobilization.
