SBU detained a Russian strike adjuster in the Rivne region

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a man in the Rivne region suspected of helping the Russians launch missile and drone strikes on western regions of Ukraine. According to investigators, he installed disguised smartphones near military facilities.

According to the intelligence agency, the man installed phones with cameras turned on near the targets that the Russians planned to attack. Representatives of the Russian intelligence agencies had remote access to the smartphones and could receive images in real time.

SBU officers detained the suspect “red-handed” while he was installing one of these cameras on the roof of an abandoned house near a military facility.

As the investigation established, the man worked at a local agricultural enterprise. He contacted representatives of the Russian Federation through Telegram channels, where they offered “easy money.”

After receiving instructions, the man traveled around the region on public transport, looking for sites he believed could be used by the Defense Forces. He would then place hidden smartphones near them and notify the Russians that the cameras were ready.

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized smartphones, which, according to the SBU, the man used to communicate with representatives of the Russian Federation and collect intelligence information.

The detainee was informed of suspicion of a completed attempt to unauthorizedly disseminate information about the movement, movement or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under martial law.

The court remanded the man in custody without bail. He faces up to 12 years in prison.

The investigation is ongoing. The SBU noted that the suspect’s actions may receive additional qualifications.
