SBU officials detained while accepting a bribe: what is known

In the Rivne region, the deputy head of the regional SBU department was detained while receiving a large bribe.

This was reported by People’s Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko.

According to him , law enforcement officers detained the deputy head of the SBU in the Rivne region, Colonel Ivan Brika. According to the deputy’s sources , the official received a bribe of 620 thousand dollars .

The money was probably demanded for obtaining permits related to amber mining .

Also, according to Honcharenko’s sources , the deputy head of the Main Department of the SBU in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv region , Oleh Tokarchuk, was detained along with the deputy head of the investigative department of the same department , Oleksandr Yakobchuk .

According to preliminary data, they were detained while receiving $ 60,000 . The money was allegedly transferred in exchange for the closure of criminal proceedings.

There are currently no official comments from law enforcement agencies regarding this information . The circumstances of the case are being clarified.

As previously reported, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has imposed a preventive measure on Volodymyr Kompanichenko, the head of the SBU Department in Zhytomyr region . He has been sentenced to 60 days in custody with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 6,988,800 hryvnias.

As a reminder, the former head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Ivan Bakanov, was appointed to the position solely because of his closeness to President Volodymyr Zelensky , while the actual management of the SBU was carried out by Andriy Naumov.
