SBU prevented contract killing of activist Druzenko: FSB agent detained

SBU counterintelligence prevented the contract killing of a well-known public activist in the Kyiv region. Law enforcement officers detained a 19-year-old killer who was recruited by the FSB.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU.
It is known that the special operation was carried out under the personal coordination of the head of the SBU, Major General Oleksandr Poklad.
According to the investigation, the attacker planned to shoot the activist during his morning walk with his dog in the forest. To do this, he monitored the man’s daily routine and travel routes.
The agent also received from the Russian special services the coordinates of the cache, from where he took a pistol with cartridges and a silencer.
According to FSB instructions, the killer was to spend the night in the forest near the activist’s house, and in the morning, ambush him and kill him with several shots.
The SBU uncovered the Russian secret service’s plan early on. The killer was detained in the forest while preparing for the assassination attempt.
According to the case materials, the FSB agent turned out to be a 19-year-old resident of Mykolaiv. Russian special services drew attention to him due to his activity on social networks, where he published posts in support of fascist and Nazi ideology.
After recruitment, the FSB sent him to Kyiv to commit murder.
During the searches, three pistols with silencers and ammunition were seized from the detainee, as well as phones with evidence of his cooperation with the Russian special services.
SBU investigators informed him of suspicion of high treason, preparation for premeditated murder for hire, and illegal handling of weapons and ammunition.
The detainee is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
It later became known that the Russian intelligence service’s target was Gennady Druzenko. He confirmed this information on his Facebook page.
“For obvious reasons, I cannot disclose all the details of the special operation, but I am truly filled with pride. For how brilliantly and professionally the counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine worked. That I ended up on the Russians’ firing list: it means that life was not lived in vain, and I am on the right path. My wife likes to joke that if I am still alive with my character, then the Lord probably has serious plans for me. Now I know for sure that I am protected not only by the Lord God, but also by the “Service of God of Ukraine”, better known to the people as the SBU. Thank you, guys! You are real pros,” Druzenko wrote.
It was previously reported thatlaw enforcement officers of the National Police exposed and detained a Russian agent who was preparing to assassinate an official of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The perpetrator is currently in custody.
